Rules & Regulations
Suggested by the WV Dept. of Agriculture Health Requirement, Pullorum/Typhoid testing be conducted prior to exhibiting birds at the fair. Please contact the poultry chairperson prior to May 1, 2012 if you plan to exhibit at the fair.
1. The American Standard of Perfection as revised by the American Poultry Association will be the guide for the judges in awarding premiums.
1. Single birds cannot compete in Trio. Birds in Trio cannot complete single.
2. The term Cock & Hen – Birds hatched prior to January 1, the year of the fair. Cockerel & Pullet – Birds hatched after January 1, the year of the fair.
Trio – consisting of one Cock or Cockerel and two Hens or Pullets.
3. Exhibitors are requested to see to entry tags are placed on each coop.
4. Exhibits must be properly cared for by the exhibitor or another youth member.
5. Cages must not be locked. Exhibitor need to bring a feed and water bowl for each cage (should have flat bottom).
6. Animals on exhibit cannot be removed until 10 pm Saturday, and must be removed by Sunday morning by 9 am.
7. Let your chairperson know how many cages you will require by June 1, 2012.
8. All animals must be health checked before allowed into barn.
9. All exhibitors must turn in a completed project book and record guides,animal health form to participate in all show classes, send a Thank-you to award sponsors and showmanship classes to receive premium money.
10. Market pens can only be shown in market pen class.
11. All animals must be healthy and sound (no injured or deformed animals). No exceptions.
12. Barn clean-up will be conducted every morning at 9 AM and each exhibitor will need to participate twice during the week.
13. Each exhibitor needs to sign-up twice to watch the barn and animals during the week.
14. All Grand and Reserve Champion animals must be sold.
15. WV Interstate Fair Board, Wood County 4-H Leaders Association, and Blennerhassett FFA will not be responsible in case of fire, theft, or accident to any stock, also will not be responsible for any accident on the fairgrounds. Precautions will be taken to protect the animals.
16. All exhibitors must be in proper show attire when showing in any class as well as for the sale. Proper attire is defined as for 4-H a 4-H show shirt, jeans and boots and for FFA the proper attire approved by FFA.

Market Pens
Market Pen of Chicken—pen will consist of 3 birds weighing a minimum of
4 pounds each (ideal weight is 7 pounds)—Total pen weight must
be a minimum of 12 pounds
Market Pen of Turkey—pen will consist of 1 bird weighing a minimum of 16 pounds
Market pens will be weighed in Monday evening. Any project animals that do not meet the weight guidelines will be permitted to exhibit in showmanship only, and then be removed from the fairgrounds immediately after checking out with your livestock chair.
