                                                              GENERAL RULES

 

1.           Registration is Sunday, July 15, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 pm.  We will not accept rabbits transported in the heat of the day!  If these times are impossible, arrangements can be made with the county rabbit project chairman prior to Saturday, July 7.

2.         NO ENTRY FEE: Participants in the Youth Rabbit Show must be a member in good standing of Wood County 4-H or FFA programs.

3.         WV Interstate Fair Board, Wood County 4-H Leaders Association, and       Blennerhassett FFA will not be responsible in case of fire, theft, or accident to any stock, also will not be responsible for any accident on the fairgrounds. Precautions will be taken to protect animals.

4.         All rabbits will be health checked prior to being admitted in the barn.  Any showing signs of infection will not be accepted.  No rabbit is to be placed in a cage in the barn until the health check is completed.

5.         Judging will be done by someone knowledgeable of the guidelines in the

STANDARD OF PERFECTION issued by the American Rabbit Breeders

Association.

6.         All members are expected to care for their own rabbits.  Any exhibitor who has a valid reason and is unable to care for their animals may ask another 4-H or FFA member to feed and water for them.  You must have permission from the county project chairman.  If you do not care for your animals properly, you will be asked to leave and premiums will be forfeited.

7.         Trophies awarded for Best of Breed, Best of Show and one for each division of Showmanship.

8.         Tattoos are not required but are strongly recommended.

9.         No breeding will be permitted on the premises.

10.       All exhibitors must turn in a completed project book and record guides, animal health form to participate in all show classes, send a Thank-you to award sponsors and showmanship classes to receive premium money.

11.      Any 4-H or FFA member not adhering to the individual project guidelines will be excluded from the sale.

12.       All animals MUST HAVE HEALTH PAPERS, pass a health inspection, and be checked by Show Chairman before unloading.  (foot rot, sore mouth, ringworm, etc.)

13.       All Grand and Reserve Champion animals must be sold. 

 

 

 

SECTION I

All ARBA recognized breeds will be judged.  No mixed breeds will be registered except in the Market Pen class.

 

CLASSES:

 

                I.     Juniors 3 - 6 months

               II.      Intermediate 6 – 8 months

              III.      Seniors over 6 months  

              IV.     Litter pen 4 weeks - 3 months

V.         Pen 10 –12 weeks of age-----TOTAL pen weight 12 – 18 lbs.

 

 

                                                    SECTION II--SHOWMANSHIP

 

1.         Showmanship is mandatory!  You can use any rabbit except for market pens for your showmanship animal.  Ties may be broken by the judges or the project chairman choosing another rabbit for you to use.

 

V.           Beginners--------Ages 9 to 12 years old

VI.          Intermediate-----Ages 13 to 16 years old

VII.         Advanced--------Ages 17years old and older

 

 

SECTION III—WEIGH IN

 

1.        Class V market pens may not be entered in any other class or used for showmanship.

2.        Class V market pens will be weighed in Monday evening.  Any project animals that do not meet the weight guidelines will be permitted to exhibit in showmanship only, and then be removed from the fairgrounds immediately after checking out with your livestock chair.

3.        Class IV animals may be sold anytime after being judged on Tuesday.

4.          No sale material is to be posted until after the show.
